Bargin is run by its founder as a sole trader in the UK and is the "data controller" for your personal data under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Contact: support@bargin.app.
Account: your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider and never seen by us. Scans: the listing links or screenshots you check, the listing details we read from them (title, price, condition, brand, photos) and the estimates we work out. Your records: offers you log, items you mark as bought, listed or sold, and the prices, fees and postage you enter. Settings: your fee and postage figures and notification choices. Subscription status: which plan you are on and when it renews — payment itself is handled entirely by Google Play or Apple, and we never see your card details. Technical: a push notification token (only if you turn notifications on) and basic logs needed to keep the service secure. Crash reports: when the app goes wrong, what happened, your phone model and app version, and your random account id — never your email. Usage stats: unless you turn off “Share usage stats” in Account, simple events such as “scan completed” or “offer logged”, with no listing links, prices or anything you type.
To provide the service you signed up for — checking listings, tracking your offers, stock and sales, running your trial and plan (contract). To keep the service secure and stop abuse, such as fair-use limits and fraud checks, and to find and fix crashes and confusing parts of the app from crash reports and usage stats (legitimate interests). To send offer reminders and marketing emails, only if you switch them on (consent — you can switch them off at any time in Account). We do not sell your data, show ads, or use your data to train AI models. Our estimates are produced automatically but are only suggestions; they have no legal or similarly significant effect on you.
Supabase (database and sign-in, hosted in the EU). Google (Google sign-in, and Gemini AI to read listing text and screenshots — listing content only, never your account details). ScrapingBee (fetches the public listing page you ask us to check). RevenueCat and Google Play / Apple (subscriptions and payments). Expo (delivers push notifications, if you turn them on). Sentry (crash reports, hosted in the EU). Usage stats stay in our own database. Our sold-price data provider receives search keywords only (for example "adidas gazelle trainers"), never anything about you. Each provider only gets what it needs for its job.
Some of these providers are based in, or use servers in, the United States. Where your data leaves the UK we rely on the UK government’s adequacy regulations (including the UK-US data bridge) or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum to protect it.
For as long as your account is open, so your history and records stay intact. You can delete individual scans and records at any time, or your whole account from Account → Delete my account; your data is then erased from our live systems straight away and from backups within 30 days. Subscription records that Google Play, Apple or RevenueCat must keep for tax and accounting are kept by them under their own policies. If you joined our website waitlist, we keep that email until launch or until you ask us to remove it.
You can ask to access, correct, delete or get a portable copy of your data (Account → Export my data does this instantly), and you can object to or ask us to restrict how we use it, or withdraw consent at any time. Email support@bargin.app and we will reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited by per-account security rules in our database, secret keys never leave our servers, and payment details never reach us at all. No system is perfectly secure, but if we ever have a breach that puts you at risk we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.
Bargin is for adults. You must be 18 or over to create an account.
UK online marketplaces report frequent sellers’ income to HMRC. If you buy and resell regularly you may need to declare that income yourself. Bargin does not report anything to HMRC for you, and nothing in the app is tax advice — check gov.uk or an accountant if you’re unsure.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app. Last updated: 27 September 2026.
