How to flip on Vinted

Flipping is simple: buy underpriced, sell at market price. The hard part is knowing the real market price before you buy.

1. Know your true cost

On Vinted your cost isn't the listed price. It's the price plus Buyer Protection (usually 5% + £0.70) plus postage. A "£5 bargain" often costs you over £9 delivered.

2. Check what it actually sells for

This is where most beginners lose money. Asking prices are not sale prices. Plenty of listings sit unsold for months at optimistic prices. Look for recent completed sales of the same item (same brand, same model, similar condition) and use the typical price, not the highest.

3. Work out the profit

Take the realistic sale price, subtract any selling fees and postage you'll pay, then subtract your true cost. Our Vinted profit calculator does it in seconds, and it also works for Depop.

4. Make a sensible offer

5. List it well

6. Track everything

Record what you paid and what you sold for. It shows what's actually working, and you'll need it if your sales grow. See our guide to Vinted and HMRC.

Common mistakes

Bargin was built to do steps 1–3 for you: paste a Vinted or Depop link and it checks real recent sales and tells you if it's worth buying.

Questions

Is flipping on Vinted worth it?

It can be, if you check real sold prices before you buy and account for Buyer Protection, postage and your time. Most losses come from guessing the sale price.

What sells best on Vinted?

Recognisable brands in good condition, in popular sizes, tend to sell fastest. Check recent sold prices for the exact item rather than relying on brand reputation alone.

How much profit should I aim for?

Many resellers aim to at least double their money, or make £10 or more per item. Under £3 is rarely worth the time.
