Vinted fees explained
Vinted is free to sell on in the UK. The fees fall on the buyer, which matters a lot if you're buying on Vinted to resell.
The short version
- Selling: no selling fee. If you list at £20 and it sells, you get £20.
- Buying: the buyer pays the item price, plus Buyer Protection (usually 5% of the price + £0.70), plus postage.
- Extras you choose: optional paid promotion like bumps or a wardrobe spotlight. Skip them until you know an item sells.
How Buyer Protection changes the maths
If you're sourcing stock on Vinted, Buyer Protection is part of your cost. On a £10 item it adds £1.20 (12%), and on a £4 item it adds £0.90, which is over 20%. That's why very cheap items are often worse flips than they look.
Example: you buy a jumper listed at £12.
£12.00 item + £1.30 Buyer Protection + £3.75 postage = £17.05 total cost.
If you resell it on Vinted for £30, you keep the full £30 (the buyer pays their own postage), so your profit is £12.95.
Selling on Vinted vs Depop
Depop also has no selling fee for UK sellers, but it does charge a payment processing fee of 2.9% + £0.30 on the item price plus postage. On a £30 sale that's about £1.17. Vinted has no equivalent seller charge, which is why many resellers buy and sell on Vinted.
Don't forget the costs that aren't fees
- Postage to you when you buy.
- Postage you pay if you offer free postage when selling.
- Returns and "not as described" claims, which can wipe out a small profit.
- Your time: photos, listing, packing and the drop-off.

Questions
Does Vinted charge sellers a fee?
No. UK sellers pay no selling fee on Vinted. You receive the full item price you listed.
How much is Vinted Buyer Protection?
It's usually 5% of the item price plus £0.70, paid by the buyer on top of the item price and postage.
